Nana's pastas


For 4 people


16oz (450gr) of your favorite pastas

3 garlic cloves, minced

olive oil

1 can (28oz - 800gr) diced tomatoes

2 medium red bell pepper

1 tbsp sugar

1 small handful of basil leaves

Salt & pepper


Bring a big pot of salted water for the pasta.


In a saucepan, warm 2 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat then add the garlic. Let it cook for just a minute then add the tomatoes with their juice, the bell pepper shopped in medium pieces, the sugar, the basil and some salt & pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes over medium-low heat.

Then, blend the sauce and don't forget to taste to adjust the salt & pepper.


Once the pasta are very al-dente, drain them keeping half a cup of the water..

Transfer them back to the big pot along with the water and the sauce.

Simmer over low heat until the water as evaporated and the pasta are perfectly al-dente.


Serve with a drizzle of olive oil and salt & pepper if it needs too.
